It will be no basketball European Championship for Elin Eldebrink this summer. The Swedish guard, who was just on her way back after a severe knee injury, has torn her Achilles tendon.

"Some things are just not meant to be. On Friday, I trained and thought I had two weeks left until I would play my first match in 15 months. In one second, my world collapsed again, I had torn my Achilles tendon. Life sucks right now, but I know I'll be okay", writes the national team veteran on Instagram.

The 37-year-old Eldebrink's injury is not the only thing worrying the national basketball team. Regan Magarity has missed the latest national team matches due to knee problems. She has now undergone surgery, but risks missing the European Championship, according to Radiosporten.

Yes, it's likely to be a race against time for the European Championship in June, says national team coach Robin Sandberg.

Sweden is already clear group winner in the European Championship qualifiers, which conclude with matches against Denmark and Estonia next week. The European Championship draw will take place in March.
