Elanga was worried whether his voice would hold up when he was the first Swede to enter the mixed zone.

Then the blue-and-yellow national team players celebrated their World Cup qualification for a long time with the fans at the national arena in Solna.

"Four years ago we played Poland. It was my second match for the national team and I was sad that we lost and I couldn't go to my first World Cup. Today I got my revenge," says the 23-year-old.

To score goals and help the team go to the World Cup, for me it's a dream come true.

The lightning-quick Newcastle player had no hesitation in ranking Tuesday night as the greatest moment of his career so far. He thundered in a 1-0 goal off the crossbar, but saw Poland equalize twice before Viktor Gyökeres settled the thriller in the final minutes.

Elanga praised the team atmosphere that has been built up in a short time since Graham Potter took over as national team coach last fall.

They have created an environment where we can enjoy our football and play with a lot of freedom. We work a lot together, we defend together and attack together.

How far can Sweden go in the World Cup this summer?

Right now I just want to celebrate with my teammates, but I'll answer the question anyway. We just have to keep working well together, and we'll see what happens.

Sweden will meet Tunisia in the World Cup opener on June 15, at 4:00 a.m. local time in Sweden.
