The win meant three important points for Nottingham Forest in the battle for Champions League play. The team is third in the Premier League with 60 points after 33 rounds.

The goal scoring began as early as the fifth minute, before Anthony Elanga found Chris Wood's header to 2–0 ten minutes later. The Swede's ninth assist of the season in league play.

In Tottenham, Dejan Kulusevski made his first start since February 22, when he scored in a 4–1 win over Ipswich.

Kulusevski was very close to scoring against Forest as well, but the Swede's header was saved on the goal line through an acrobatic kick by Harry Toffolo.

In the 87th minute, Richarlison headed in the consolation goal, but no closer than that did Tottenham come, remaining in 16th place with 37 points in 33 matches.

The away win was Nottingham's first against Tottenham since 1997.
