He is the man of rumors, Anthony Elanga. Both Newcastle and Manchester United are reported to want to buy the national team striker from Nottingham. He did not get cheaper in Budapest – despite the misses.

Elanga was happy and relieved about the win with 2–0 against Hungary, but also got a little annoyed that none of the many chances paid off.

Sometimes it's days like that. This was one of my best national team matches, he says.

In the first half, he hit the crossbar, at the end of the match he got a goal disallowed for offside. In between, he had a few opportunities to make the win bigger.

It's always nice to win with the national team and hopefully we can build on this, but we could have scored a few more goals... I could have scored a few more, he says.

Maybe four.

”One of my best”

Despite the missed chances, Elanga was one of Sweden's best players at Puskás Aréna.

If I'm being honest, I have to say that this was one of my best national team matches so far.

Was it time for you to show the way when Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyökeres were missing?

When I get the opportunity to play, I always want to show what I can do, regardless of whether they are here or not. I'm happy for everyone's sake. It's not easy to go to Hungary and win – and to keep a clean sheet, he says.

As fast as Bolt?

In Viaplay's broadcast, expert commentator Bojan Djordjic compared Elanga to the sprinter Usain Bolt.

Well, what can you say. If I score goals too, it will be even better.

Benjamin Nygren, the attacking partner against Hungary, says he has never played with a player as fast as Elanga.

And he was pleased with the cooperation.

We found each other well. He is extremely fast. He must be one of the fastest players in the world, especially for the first 20-30 meters. It's something you have to take advantage of and I think we found him a few times today.

Elanga is a hot name on the transfer market. The interest from Newcastle is said to have increased significantly – and now there are reports that Manchester United want to buy him back from Nottingham.

I just keep my focus and think about the next action, the next day, he says about the speculation.

Elanga gets a day off from Tuesday's national team match against Algeria at Strawberry arena.

It's private reasons that I don't want to talk much about. But I will support the "boys".
