Ekdal ended his active career after last season. At the time, the 36-year-old was clear that he would like to continue working at Djurgården.
So it turns out. He will take a role as a sports assistant.
"He wants to learn about football and will remain at the club as a sports assistant. He will be involved in day-to-day operations in 2026 to see how this works, and we will have his experience with us," says sports director Bosse Andersson.
