After a disappointing opening run (30 points), Gu impressed in the final two runs. The 22-year-old, who was born in San Francisco but competes for her mother's homeland of China, took the lead with 94 points in the second run. Her third completed run improved to 94.75.
Gu had the best two runs of the final and won ahead of compatriot Li Fanghui, whose best score was 93 points. Zoe Atkin of Great Britain took bronze with 92.5 points.
Sunday's women's final in the freeskiing halfpipe was supposed to be decided on Saturday evening but had to be moved to Sunday due to heavy snowfall.
