Four generations had gathered for Sunday dinner when the 44-year-old man suddenly appeared and opened fire. The week before, his parents had asked him to move out, witnesses said.
When police were called to the house outside Billings on Sunday, gunshots were heard. Shortly afterwards, a large fire broke out. It was not until Tuesday that investigators were able to confirm that eight people had been killed, including four children.
The perpetrator also died after shooting himself.
