The rescue service initially stated that eight people had been taken to hospital by ambulance. That figure was not correct and has been revised to five, the rescue service told Blekinge Läns Tidning.
It is not clear how the accident happened, but cars have crashed on both sides of the wire fence. Due to the storm, sand is blowing around, which makes visibility at the scene poor.
According to BLT, a total of 16 cars and 29 people were involved in the accident, which occurred just outside Sölvesborg at 3 p.m. on Monday.
13 cars will be towed, police spokesperson Evelina Olsson told TT.
It is not clear how seriously the people are injured. There is no forecast for when the road can be reopened.
