Patrick Branco Ruivo, who has led operations at the Paris landmark since 2018, will leave his post at the end of the year. This comes after an internal investigation revealed “operational deficiencies” during a visit by the Hindu group Baps in early September.
During the visit, female employees were removed at the request of Baps. The move was described as “unacceptable” by the tower’s operator Sete in a statement. The decision led to a strike by employees and outrage in French public debate.
Sete will now introduce measures to ensure gender equality. Baps has previously apologised for the “suffering or inconvenience” the incident caused.
