In total, EIB has now contributed financing of over 12 billion kronor to the project.

"This investment strengthens both sustainable mobility and regional development. By providing additional financing, we demonstrate our commitment to climate-smart investments in Europe's cities. The project is an example of how EU financing can help both citizens and the climate," says Thomas Östros, Vice-President of EIB.

The expansion of the metro in Stockholm is one of the EU-financed infrastructure projects in Sweden. The construction includes three new stretches, covering approximately 30 kilometers of new tracks. The project is being implemented in Stockholm, as well as in the surrounding municipalities of Nacka, Solna, and Järfälla.
