Egypt's Foreign Minister has, in phone calls with Iran's and Lebanon's Foreign Ministers, warned of an escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. The development is "dangerous", said Badr Abdelatty according to the news agency AP.
An Israeli delegation has left Cairo after a few hours of negotiations on Saturday, simultaneously announced Egyptian officials. The subject of the talks was a border corridor towards the Egyptian border and the border crossing in Rafah in Gaza.
Nothing new came out of the talks, according to the source who has direct insight into the peace negotiations. Israel has not commented on today's talks.
On Friday, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave Israeli negotiators permission to travel to Cairo. In Israeli media, reports emerged on Friday that Netanyahu had rejected calls from his security chiefs to take the opportunity to reach an agreement and that US President Joe Biden, in a phone call, had urged Netanyahu to stop escalating tensions in the region.
