When Tre Kronor last won World Championship gold, today's four Edmonton Swedes played important roles in the team.
Tonight, the final series in the Stanley Cup begins - a replay of last year's final against Florida - and then the gold heroes hope to create new memories together.
It's fun. "Ekan" (Ekholm) said it already last year, that we have won together and that it boded well to end up in a final. This year, two Swedes arrived. We hope to be able to do it again, says Mattias Janmark to the NHL's website.
John Klingberg agrees.
To get the chance to do this again is fantastic. It's of course a bit different, in a World Championship tournament it's one match in the final. But there's a lot at stake in each match here as well, he says to nhl.com.
In 2024, Florida won with 4-3 in matches. Viktor Arvidsson was not involved then, but he thinks his Edmonton has a substantial portion of revenge.
People are more eager to win, maybe even more than last year. Everyone feels more determined and ready for what's coming.
