Edmonton Defeats Dallas 3-0 in Stanley Cup Semifinal; Hintz Injured

Edmonton's goalkeeper Stuart Skinner held tight when Dallas was defeated with a convincing 3–0 in tonight's semifinal in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Dallas' Roope Hintz was escorted off the ice after a hard hit above the skate. I don't think it was enough, says teammate Mason Marchment about the penalty that followed.

Dallas forward Roope Hintz left injured in period three, after getting a stick swung over his left skate in front of Edmonton's goal.

Finnish-born Hintz, who at the time fell to the ice with obvious pain, was helped out by his teammates after a couple of minutes, without putting weight on his left foot.

The hit from Edmonton defenseman Darnell Nurse was reviewed by the referees, but only resulted in a two-minute penalty for slashing. A decision that Dallas coach Pete DeBoer was not satisfied with.

Does anyone in this room think that it wouldn't be a five-minute penalty if Connor McDavid (Edmonton star) would be taken off the ice in that way, asks DeBoer rhetorically during the press conference after the match.

Dallas forward Mason Marchment emphasizes that it was obvious that Nurse hit with intent.

I don't really want to tell them what they should do or what they should have judged, but it's one of our best players, and I don't think it was enough, says Marchment afterwards.

Edmonton center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins initiated the goal scoring in period one and was also credited with an assist, while Brett Kulak and Connor Brown scored one goal each in period two.

Skinner made a total of 25 saves.

Last year's finalists Edmonton have, with tonight's win, tied the series, which is decided in best of seven, to 1–1.
