Oskar Edlund misses Ultimate Championship final after tough 400m hurdles semifinal

Edlund finished fifth in his semifinal heat in 48.13 - the second-best time of his career. Edlund surged in the final 100 metres, but never reached fourth place, which would have earned him a spot in Sunday's final.

I stalled in the bend, got the stride wrong completely over the hurdles, managed to save it, but it wasn't enough today, he told SVT.

Still a perfectly okay time, but I want to finish fourth. It's really tough.

He set a Swedish record at the European Championships in Birmingham in August with 47.81. A similar time had been needed in Budapest to reach the final.

The hurdler, together with Armand Duplantis, was one of the only Swedes in the new Ultimate Championship competition.
