"Macklemore leaving the tour was the organiser's decision, not mine," Sheeran wrote on Instagram.
Meanwhile, three more acts have chosen to leave the tour in protest, among them Finneas and Irish band Beoga, who served as Sheeran's tour band.
Finneas, who is Billie Eilish's brother and musical collaborator, was scheduled to tour with Sheeran in South America later this year and has previously publicly expressed support for Palestinians.

It was after a concert in New Jersey where Macklemore called for people to "liberate Palestine" that the organiser stopped him from participating in the remaining US shows.
Sheeran further writes in his post that he "had long conversations with the venues throughout the week to try to build a bridge", but that the decision of the venues and the organiser "is final".
The British singer also says that he refuses to be drawn into a public debate about the war in Gaza.
