The turnover for e-commerce in August landed at 13.5 billion kronor. It exceeds all previous measurements for August – including record levels from the pandemic year 2021, shows Swedish Trade's e-commerce indicator.

Compared to last year, the increase is 12 percent.

Also July's turnover was the highest estimate ever for that month.

Per Ljungberg, innovation manager at Svensk Handel, says that the development is encouraging.

”After a tough first half of the year, we are now finally seeing a trend break. Like in other parts of the trade, more optimistic winds are now blowing, driven by welcome budget announcements from the government”, he says in a press release.

More than ever also e-shopped from abroad in August. 23 percent of consumers e-shopped from abroad and 13 percent of the turnover from Swedish private consumption on the internet is estimated to go to e-commerce companies abroad.
