European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde earns 50 percent more than the ECB states, according to a compilation by the Financial Times.

The ECB states that Lagarde's salary in 2024 was 466,000 euros, but the FT's review indicates the remuneration is around 726,000 euros, equivalent to 7.8 million kronor.

This means that Lagarde earns almost four times as much as her counterpart at the US central bank, Fed Chairman Jay Powell. However, Powell's compensation is limited by US federal law.
