The European Central Bank (ECB) is leaving its key interest rates unchanged, with the bank's key deposit rate remaining at 2 percent.

The announcement was expected and it was the fifth meeting in a row that the interest rate was left unchanged. In a press release, the central bank writes that the economy has grown despite a globally challenging environment.

"However, the outlook remains uncertain, particularly due to ongoing global trade disputes and geopolitical tensions," the press release states.

In a survey conducted by Bloomberg, a majority of economists surveyed said that interest rates will likely remain unchanged two years from now.
