The outbreak has developed into the largest and deadliest in the country's history, and on Friday it was reported that at least 3,398 people had died.
Recently, a case was also identified in another province, Sud-Ubangi, which is not directly linked to the epicentre of the outbreak.
“Contact tracing of the first confirmed case in Sud-Ubangi is ongoing,” the Congo-Kinshasa public health authority said in its latest status report.
According to Reuters, only the 2014 to 2016 Ebola outbreak in West Africa has been worse. In Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, more than 28,000 people were infected, of whom about 11,000 died.
