Sweden's new Minister of Health Elisabet Lann (KD) fainted at the press conference where she was presented on Tuesday. I understand that it looked very dramatic. It was probably not the kind of entrance I had planned for, she says to TT.

Lann was affected by a blood sugar drop, which caused her to collapse during yesterday's press conference. In addition to pain in one finger, she escaped without injury in the fall and is now feeling well, she says on Wednesday.

I recovered very quickly and felt well pretty much directly after yesterday and fulfilled my schedule during the day, says Elisabet Lann to TT.

She tells that she has fainted before.

It has then been connected to the fact that I have slept and eaten a little poorly and had a too intense schedule. And that's what characterized my day yesterday.

It happens very quickly, otherwise I would probably have sat down. It comes very suddenly, so I didn't have time to think much.

Busch helped out

Christian Democrats leader Ebba Busch was quickly on the scene and tried to help her up with a shocked Prime Minister behind her.

She made a dramatic entrance, notes Busch, and says that the decision to step into the situation was "very simple".

I saw that she was on her way down and I stepped forward. It's something I've talked a lot about with the kids - what do you do in crisis situations?

She did what she was trained to do: check the airways and see that life-saving measures are not necessary.

She brings up that she previously lived with a man who suffers from epilepsy, and that she has been trained for crisis situations.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (The Moderate Party) notes that the incident was "dramatic".

I had just handed over the word to (Minister for Social Affairs) Jakob Forssmed, so I looked in that direction for natural reasons. I saw that it was a swift intervention by several people who were sitting right where she fell, and that she quickly got help.

He says that everyone was shocked.

But such things happen fortunately very rarely. I'm glad she quickly got back on her feet.

”Can joke about it”

The new Minister of Health and Social Affairs, however, seems to take the big commotion with ease.

One can joke about it and laugh at the fact that I have at least become known. But at the same time, I think that it's soon time to put it behind me and start working, and I look forward to that very much.

About Busch's intervention, Lann says that it is "characteristic of her to act and do what is required in the moment", but she also wants to highlight the support she has received from others.

The strongest impression from yesterday is the concern that people have shown. It wasn't just Ebba Busch who reacted quickly, but many who were quickly on the scene and I received an incredibly fine care.
