"It is sad that Ebba chooses to forgo the World Cup in Lahti - but it also gives someone else the chance to take a place on the team," says Anders Byström in a press release.

In Lahti, there is a freestyle sprint on Saturday and a 10 km classic on Sunday.

The national team does not state which long-distance race Ebba Andersson plans to run, but the race is a 50 km event in Orsa Grönklitt on Saturday that is part of the Ski Classics long-distance race cup.

It was the 5 km that Andersson won by a landslide at the Olympics. She was then forced to withdraw from the World Cup competitions in Falun this weekend due to a cold.
