An eBay spokesperson has confirmed the plans, which mean the auction site is choosing to focus on its most profitable units.
The layoffs are the second round of job cuts at eBay this year. In February, the company said it would cut 800 jobs, representing 6 percent of its workforce at the time.
eBay bought the marketplace Depop earlier this year and is now facing competition from Vinted, a Lithuanian online marketplace, in the large American market.
The announcement of the new cuts comes ahead of the company’s third-quarter interim report, which is expected next week.
