And EasyJet - which has been on the verge of getting a new major owner, the American venture capital firm Apollo, since August - is already planning to cut flight capacity by up to 700,000 seats to adapt its operations.
Apollo's purchase of a stake is scheduled to be completed in early 2027, but the deal still needs to be approved by competition authorities and the company's existing owners.
