"The upswing is visible broadly, but is particularly clear among smaller apartments where the number of sales has been at low levels for several years," notes Erik Holmberg, market analyst at Hemnet, in a comment.
One-bedroom apartments have seen the clearest increase in sales, up 21 percent compared to the same period last year. By comparison, two-bedroom apartments rose 14 percent, while apartments with three or more rooms rose 16 percent.
On April 1, mortgage regulations were changed to raise the mortgage ceiling from 85 to 90 percent and to remove the stricter amortization requirement. The intention was to increase mobility in the housing market.
