The earthquake occurred in Gäddträsk, south of Lycksele, just before 1 p.m. on Saturday. It measured 3.1 on the Richter scale and was felt in several places in Västerbotten, reports Västerbottens-Kuriren.
"It's unusual for earthquakes of this size to occur," Björn Lund, seismologist at the Swedish National Seismic Network at Uppsala University, told VK.
The area is unusually active, with around 1,000 earthquakes a year linked to the Burträsk fault.
