The accident on the E18 occurred around 4pm on Friday. A truck crashed into the median barrier and is now blocking the road, which, according to police, is expected to be closed until at least 5am on Saturday.
Traffic is being diverted via Degerfors, and road users are advised to take other routes and plan their journeys.
The truck driver was taken to hospital by ambulance for examination, but is not reported to have been injured. The incident is being investigated as negligent driving.
On the E22 near Oskarshamn and Mönsterås, snowstorm Anna is causing problems and traffic has been at a standstill since 10pm on Friday, according to P4 Kalmar.
Several trees have fallen across the road and some of the rescue service's heavier vehicles, such as tanker trucks, have become stuck in the snow. A tracked vehicle has now been called in to assist in the work.
