DNB announces that between March and August this year, it sold 59 tonnes of gold stored in New York and Ottawa, then bought the same amount in London and stored the gold there. Almost all of the gold sold was taken from the United States.
At the same time, 27 tonnes of gold were physically transported from the cities to Zeist in the Netherlands, reports the Dutch news agency ANP.
86 tonnes corresponds to 14 percent of the total Dutch gold reserve and the move is motivated by the importance of having a "more balanced" distribution of the gold in a time of increased geopolitical unrest.
A third of the gold reserve of just over 614 tonnes is now stored in London. According to ANP, the total value at the turn of the year was equivalent to SEK 805 billion.
