"The problem was not that the fire hydrants were empty of water, we did not manage to connect to two of the fire hydrants," writes press officer Kristin Grydeland at the Drammen rescue service in a written message to VG.
She explains that the firefighters were using standard hoses, but could not connect them. In addition, it turned out that one fire hydrant was mislabeled and was not actually a fire hydrant.
Grydeland tells VG that this did not affect the outcome.
The fire started on July 17 and lasted for four days. It spread quickly and burned down more than 110 homes.
