Verrett's kidney problems have been known for some time. He has been treated mainly at Drammen Hospital and is now paying tribute to the Norwegian healthcare system.
"I have received treatment in many places around the world, but I have never experienced the warmth, care and humanity that I have encountered among healthcare professionals in Norway in general, and at Drammen Hospital in particular," Verrett said in a press release via Princess Märtha Louise's spokesperson, Carina Scheele Carlsen.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit also recently underwent an organ transplant at Rikshospitalet. King Harald is currently hospitalised at the same hospital and is being treated with antibiotics for bacteria in his blood.
