"Mondo" made the decision earlier this year to move his base from Stockholm to Monaco together with his wife Desiré and on Friday it was time for the first competition on home soil.

It ended with an expected victory. Duplantis cleared one height after another and won the competition in 6.07. The world record holder also improved his competition record from last year by two centimetres.

The 26-year-old Swedish-American then raised the bar to 6.15 but failed on all three attempts. Duplantis' world record is 6.31.

"It was a bit strange, to be honest. I couldn't find the feeling or the rhythm at all, but I'll still try to be positive. I won on a meeting record," Duplantis tells SVT.

Second in the competition was Frenchman Thierry Baptiste and third was Kurtis Marschall of Australia. Both finished at 5.85. Marschall had more misses along the way.

Armand Duplantis was the only Swede to compete in Monaco.
