During the year, Duplantis has improved his own world record four times, most recently when he reached the dream limit 6.30 and took the World Championship gold in Tokyo in September.
In 2022, Duplantis had to share the award with Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen and last year he got the title alone.
His closest competitors for the award this year were Italian long jumper Mattia Furlani and French long-distance runner Jimmy Gressier.
Dutch runner Femke Bol received the prize on the women's side.
