Earlier this week it became clear that the Norwegian audience at the Bislett Games will not be able to see the Swede compete. He is getting married in Cannes, France, the following weekend, June 13-14, competition director Steinar Hoen told NTB, which Duplantis himself was not entirely happy about.
"It is what it is. I might have wished he hadn't said anything. I was a little shocked that he said it, but it is what it is," said Duplantis in Poland ahead of the World Indoor Championships.
But now Duplantis says that only the party will be held. The wedding itself took place at Stockholm City Hall on March 7 this year, just five days before Duplantis set a new world record of 6.31 meters.
