He treated the Tokyo audience to a show and new heights. Now Armand Duplantis will enjoy the Japanese capital. I'm staying here for a few days, says the Swede after the World Championship gold and world record at the National Arena.

Andreas Almgren's World Championship bronze on 10,000 meters will be kept by his parents in his childhood home. Armand Duplantis – who has significantly more medals – has not quite decided where he will keep his third consecutive World Championship gold.

Mine are a bit all over. I have some with my parents and then I've saved some myself. Most of them usually end up in Stockholm, he says.

But my parents might want this one, I haven't thought about that yet.

The 25-year-old, on the other hand, knows that the season is over and rest is first and foremost on the program for the coming days.

Some of these he will spend in Tokyo.

I might watch some athletics. I like to do that but it's rare that I can do it since I compete. Then I'll enjoy Tokyo, he says.

Otherwise, I don't have such big plans, just chill.

Armand Duplantis ended the season in style. Back at the Olympic Games arena in 2021, the pandemic-affected summer games that were decided without an audience, the star made sure to soak in the atmosphere, enjoy – and of course jump high.

With 6.30, he set a world record for the 14th time in his career.

After the final, he went out into the Tokyo night and partied at a karaoke bar.

I'm quite tired and need to sleep a bit. But when you do something big, you need to party a bit and hang out with close friends and family, he says.

There was a lot of energy that needed to be released.
