Dune: Part Three Built a 55-Ton Spaceship for a Rain-Soaked Battle Scene

Production designer Patrice Vermette reveals several new details about his work on the film “Dune: Part Three.” Among other things, a 55-ton spaceship was built for a large battle scene in torrential rain, Variety reports.

The ship was designed to be filmed in 360 degrees, both inside and out, and was partially buried in the ground. The filming required, among other things, a crane to lift the ship every other day. A pumping system was also installed to remove all the water.

Patrice Vermette describes the film’s opening battle scene as a “crazy idea” and promises that the third instalment in the film series will be a “magnificent spectacle”.

Timothée Chalamet returns as Paul Atreides. The film premieres in December this year.
