The reactor was active, but operations were not affected and no fire broke out, the IAEA writes in a post on X.
Director General Rafael Grossi says that “all attacks on nuclear energy facilities are unacceptable” because they “can jeopardize nuclear safety, regardless of where they occur.”
Grossi once again calls for "maximum military restraint" to avoid risking a nuclear accident.
The Kursk region is located in southwestern Russia and borders Ukraine.
