The drone is said to have flown into Romania from Moldova and was shot down by a Spanish fighter jet as part of NATO cooperation.
Fragments from the drone fell in an unpopulated area, according to Romanian authorities.
The drone's origin is unknown. Foreign drones have been shot down in Romania on several occasions in recent months.
