A drone has crashed into a high-rise apartment building in central Israel, reports Israeli media. The Houthi movement in Yemen is taking responsibility.
The Israeli military confirms that a drone has exploded in the city of Yavne, located south of the larger city of Tel Aviv. The drone was likely to have originated from Yemen, and later in the day, the Iran- and Hamas-allied Houthi movement confirmed that it was behind the attack.
The building has 15 floors and two apartments are reported to have been damaged in the attack. There are no reports of personal injuries. Video clips published by Israeli media show black smoke rising from a burning rooftop terrace.
Neither air raid sirens nor air defense systems appear to have been activated, which the military says it needs to investigate further.
