The drone was found near a Ukrainian Antonov aircraft. After closer examination, it turned out that it had a detonator and contained explosives, according to the Bild newspaper. No explosion occurred, as the ignition device was reportedly defective.
Several flights had to be diverted after the drone was spotted. This led to an aircraft in mid-air near Leipzig-Halle airport colliding with an unknown object. According to the German Interior Ministry, the plane was later able to land safely in Hanover.
The authorities are classifying the incident as an attempted attack, according to information obtained by Bild.
