A large gas facility in Orenburg in southern Russia has burned after a Ukrainian drone attack during the night, announces the region's governor.

The facility is operated by the Russian state gas giant Gazprom and is part of a production complex that is one of the largest of its kind in the world.

According to the governor, the drone attacks set a workshop at the facility on fire and damaged parts of it. No one is reported to have been injured.

No comment has been made by Ukraine, which has stepped up its attacks in recent months on Russian energy facilities.
