At least 75 people have been killed in an attack on a mosque that served as a residence for internally displaced persons in the Sudanese Darfur. Their remains were pulled out of the rubble after the drone attack, according to information from the aid organization Emergency Response Room.

Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are pointed out for the attack.

The mosque at the Abu Shouk camp is not far from the city of El-Fasher, which is at the center of the ongoing battles between the Sudanese army and RSF.

Sudan has since 2023 been ravaged by a brutal civil war between the army, which has control over most government institutions, and the paramilitary RSF. The conflict has killed tens of thousands of people, displaced millions and created what the UN describes as one of the world's worst humanitarian crises.

The battles in Darfur have escalated since the army in the spring regained control of the capital Khartum. Famine prevails in parts of the region.
