A motorist drove into the water at Lersjön in Filipstad on Thursday afternoon.
"It is a serious accident," says police spokesperson Sophia Jiglind.
The police do not want to comment on the damage.
The entire car was in the water and the rescue service got the vehicle and the person to land at around 9 p.m.
"It's very fast water," said Sophia Jiglind during the operation.
Police, rescue services and ambulance were called to the scene shortly after 5 p.m.
It is still unclear how the accident happened and there is no suspicion of foul play at this time.
