The accident occurred in Årsta in Härnösand municipality, after the heavy rainstorm that hit the area.
Police, rescue services and ambulance were alerted to the scene. One of the people in the car was able to get out and up onto the road on their own, but the other had to be picked out by the rescue services and has been taken to hospital by ambulance.
According to the Swedish Transport Administration, the road is closed and completely washed away just south of Selasjön. The authority does not know when the work can begin to repair the crack, but the end time is currently set to 4 pm.
Tonight's rainstorm has caused problems in several places. A part of the E4 in Härnösand was flooded and several other roads have been destroyed when parts of them were washed away.
