Replacements for Switch
Nintendo's hybrid console Switch was released in 2017, and aging is a challenge to port and develop games for. Rumors about a successor have been circulating for several years, but several alleged leaks suggest that 2025 will be the year it is actually released.
Doubled Up
Swedish Hazelight, led by Josef Fares, recently showcased "Split fiction". Just like in the previous success "It takes two", cooperation is in focus. This time, players take on two authors who get stuck in each other's stories. March 6 is the release date.
Reboot for "Civilization"
The eternal strategy game lets players take "just one more turn" from February 11. The basic concept is intact, lead your civilization from ancient times to the present. Final victory can be achieved in many different ways, with varying pacifist approaches. New in "Civilization VII" is that leaders, such as Genghis Khan, are not tied to "their" civilization, and that you can switch civilizations between the game's three eras.
Long-awaited Cash Cow
Almost the entire gaming world has been waiting for the next installment in the "GTA" series for several years now. The latest game was released in 2013 and is estimated to have generated a staggering 8 billion dollars for publisher Take-Two. The latest bid is that the sixth installment, set in a Florida-inspired Leonida, will be released in the fall for PS5 and Xbox, but developer Rockstar has a history of delaying their games.
Double News from RPG Masters
Few companies have made as many successful role-playing games in recent decades as Obsidian. From "Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic II" to "The Outer Worlds". With "Avowed", the company returns to the same world as in "Pillars of Eternity", but in a completely new adventure that will be released on February 18. Additionally, "The Outer Worlds 2" is scheduled to be released during the year.
Historical Games
For those who want to dream away to bygone eras, 2025 looks set to be a top year. The medieval epic "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" gets a sequel on February 4, and Japanese history is explored in both "Ghost of Yotei" and "Assassin's Creed Shadows" (February 14). The rise of the mafia on Sicily is portrayed in "Mafia: The Old Country", which will be released in the summer.
Monster Hunting
Japanese Capcom invites you to monster hunting in "Monster Hunter Wilds" at the end of February, where the environments change in two distinct seasons. Those who settle for smaller monsters can look forward to the Switch title "Pokémon Legends: Z-A" later this year.
