The Hälsingland derby on Boxing Day ended with a big win for Edsbyn, 6–1. As if that wasn't bitter enough, brothers Pär and Peter Törnberg got fired as head coaches for Bollnäs the next day.
It came as a surprise. Since then, we've mixed and given a little with the performances, and that's what the club feels, that a change is needed. At the same time, I think we could have turned it around ourselves, said Peter Törnberg to Ljusnan after the decision.
"Far from optimal"
It seems to have had some effect. Under Simon Hansson's leadership, assistant coach who temporarily got the head responsibility, it was a direct win.
This is how elite sports and the industry look like. It's far from optimal. But we kind of clenched our fists today and decided to make a good effort, and we did, says Bollnäs team captain Erik Pettersson in Ljusnan's broadcast after Saturday's match against Hammarby.
Bollnäs won away at Zinkensdamms IP in Stockholm with a clear 7–3 in the end. Efficiency in fixed situations, three of the first four goals came from corners, laid the foundation for the win that sends Bollnäs closer to a direct spot in the quarterfinals and further away from the relegation battle.
Big numbers for Vetlanda
A pure and clear warrior effort. We struggle for each other. Today, we're a bit more effective too and get the balls in when we get the opportunities, says Erik Pettersson.
In Saturday afternoon's other match, Gripen made 4–0 against Vetlanda in the second half. Unfortunately for the home team, the match was already lost. Vetlanda led 9–0 at halftime and won in the end with 9–4.
Later in the evening, series-leading Villa Lidköping took another convincing win – the team's 17th in 18 matches this season – through 10–5 at home against bottom-of-the-table Ljusdal.
