Drake demanded to see Kendrick Lamar's record contract, as well as information about salaries and bonuses for top executives at his record label Universal Music Group (UMG), writes BBC.
The artist accuses the record label of defamation, since the company has been involved in marketing and distributing Lamar's song, which according to Drake spreads the "false and harmful" claim that he is a pedophile.
Last month, the record label tried to dismiss the case as an attempt by Drake to silence his competitor, and requested a pause in the collection of evidence. It was rejected, and Drake's lawyer Michael Gottlieb then said in a statement: "Now it's time to see what UMG was so desperately trying to hide."
The lawsuit is the latest in a series of clashes between the artists, due to a disagreement that dates back to the beginning of the 2010s.
