Four people have been confirmed dead, and more than 30 people are missing after a large garbage dump collapsed in the central Philippines.

There are signs of life, the rescue service says. Twelve people who worked at the waste facility have been rescued but are injured.

Rescue work continues in a race against time but is being hampered by unstable piles of rubble and flammable materials.

The cause of the giant slide is still unclear.
