"There have been 31 arrests in total during the operation so far," wrote the Metropolitan Police in London in a post on X, and continued:
"This may seem like a high number, but both demonstrations have largely passed without any major incidents."
Pictures from the demonstrations published by Sky News show thousands of people participating in both demonstrations.
One protest is organized by supporters of right-wing extremist and activist Tommy Robinson under the slogan “Unite the Kingdom.” The other march is organized in memory of the displacement of Palestinians and as a protest against the war in Gaza.
At least 4,000 police officers have been deployed to handle the events.
