Minister for Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa (The Moderate Party) welcomes that a court in the USA has ruled that the majority of the tariffs the Trump administration has introduced this year are illegal.

The Minister notes, however, that the issue, which has been dealt with by a federal appeals court, will probably be taken further and decided by the US Supreme Court.

”The new tariff levels still apply and we probably need to count on them continuing to do so. But if they were to be restored to their original level by a later court instance, it would be very welcome”, says Dousa in a written comment to TT.

The consequence of the trade agreement the EU and the US agreed on at the end of July was that the majority of goods from EU countries such as Sweden were subject to customs duties of 15 percent.
