Dousa: Prepared for Trump to Use Other Tools

All steps towards lower tariffs are of course good for Sweden and for Swedish jobs, but it is too early to celebrate at this point and we are fully prepared for the fact that there are also other tools that the White House can use to reintroduce increased tariffs.

As an example of such tools, he mentions that the White House can go through Congress and use so-called Section 232 investigations or other legal tools.

He adds that "we'll probably have ice in our stomachs."

"The important thing is that I don't want to get my hopes up too high about this," Dousa says.

"That question is raised too early; first we need to clarify exactly what consequences this will have for Europe," Dousa says.

In response to the court's decision, Trump announced on Friday evening that the United States would introduce new global tariffs of 10 percent, which the president said would be added on top of the tariffs already in place.

Dousa writes in a text message to TT that the government is carefully analyzing what this means.

"The suddenness of the new announcements has a price in itself, but the government is prepared for all possible outcomes. Sweden has a Trump-proof economy that is standing strong," he writes.
