There were four goals in just under six minutes of play, including a genuine hat-trick by Mitchell Marner. In addition, two goals were disallowed.

There is no doubt that the middle period belonged to Vegas.

Carolina, however, needed only 39 seconds to get back into the game. At 7:03 into the third period, Jordan Martinook scored to make it 4–1; a moment later it was 4–3. The equalizer came just over ten minutes later.

In overtime, Shea Theodore scored the decisive goal in a 5–4 win for Vegas. The team now leads the final series 2–1.
